Revit
Autodesk's flagship BIM authoring software — the dominant tool for modelling buildings in India + the Middle East.
What is Revit?
Revit is the most-used BIM authoring software in 2026. It lets architects, structural engineers, and MEP specialists build a single intelligent 3D model that contains geometry AND data — wall thicknesses, fire ratings, material costs, manufacturer specs.
The "I" in BIM (Information) is what makes Revit different from older 3D CAD. A Revit wall is not just lines on screen — it knows its area, knows what schedules to appear in, knows which sheets show it, and updates everywhere if you change anything.
For BIM careers in India + UAE, Revit fluency is the price of entry. About 90% of BIM job postings list Revit specifically. The other tools (Navisworks, BIM 360) work on top of Revit-produced models.
Revit is the foundational skill of BIM. Without it, no BIM career is possible. With it, you have entry-level access to ₹3.5–6 LPA jobs in India and AED 5,500+ jobs in UAE.
A BIM modeller at L&T uses Revit to build the full G+15 model for a Mumbai commercial tower. The model produces 200+ construction drawings automatically, generates a quantity take-off, and feeds Navisworks for clash detection — all from one source file.
